Role The Assistant Principal reports to the Principal and to the Assistant Principal (Teaching and Learning).
Assistant Principals are responsible for the management of significant areas or functions within a school to ensure the effective development, provision and evaluation of the school's education program.
They contribute to the overall management of the school through involvement in policy formulation and decision making.
Assistant Principals at Bendigo Senior Secondary College (BSSC) are core members of the Leadership Team and Extended Leadership Team, working with the Principal to ensure policies and programs are developed and implemented to maximise student learning opportunities.
Assistant Principals are expected to demonstrate exemplary values and attitudes, build and maintain effective teams, and develop cooperative working relationships that promote excellence in teaching and learning.
The role includes a teaching load of two classes (420 minutes in total per week) and a role as an Advisor for approximately 16 students.
Responsibilities 1.
College wide leadership Lead the planning, implementation and promotion of Vocational Education and Training (VET) within the college.
Lead and manage the college RTO function.
Guide and inform the extended leadership team and staff in all relevant requirements, initiatives and policy directions in the area of VET.
Support the Curriculum and Learning Team as required to support student pathways, particularly as they relate to VET.
Build constructive partnerships with other Bendigo schools, local businesses, RTOs and further education providers to enhance effective delivery of vocational programs.
Lead the college's involvement in the local VET cluster and Trade Training Centre consortium.
Oversee and evaluate the direction and work undertaken by VET program teachers and relevant ES Staff.
Manage budgets related to the college VET program.

Careers and Pathways Provide strategic leadership and support to the Careers and Pathways team.

Shared responsibilities Contribute to the college Leadership Team.
Support the design and implementation of the Performance and Development Program.
Report to College Council as required.
Model college values for all members of the college community.
