Assistant principals have a primary responsibility for the management of significant areas or functions within the school to ensure the effective development, provision and evaluation of the school's education program. In exercising the responsibility, assistant principals will have the authority to make all significant decisions relating to the program, budget and staff relating to their area of designated responsibility within the framework of the school's strategic plan, policies and budget. Assistant principals will contribute to the overall management of the school through involvement in policy formulation and decision making.The management of significant school program or functional areas in schools involves assistant principals in the analysis of the needs of students and the translation of state educational policy and frameworks into appropriate education programs to meet the needs of all students.Typically, assistant principals will be responsible for the effective use of the teaching staff and program budget of a defined area of the school's operation and for the oversight and leadership of the educational programs provided utilizing these resources.ResponsibilitiesAssistant Principal – College Wellbeing and Staff DevelopmentOversee and review key wellbeing policies and programs, including the Student Engagement & Wellbeing policy, Child Safe Policies and Mandatory Reporting processes.Lead the development and implementation of the college student management policy and processes.Oversee the development and implementation of the Buckley Park College Attendance Strategy.Lead the management to ensure student adherence to the uniform policy.Oversee the planning and implementation of collective staff professional development programStaff Professional Learning MeetingsPupil Free DaysLead the Staff Induction Program and Preservice Teachers.Manage the process and supports for VIT Full Registration.Chair the college Student Wellbeing and Engagement Leaders Executive.Actively engage and action relevant DET and Regional initiatives.Lead the College's Wellbeing Team to develop and implement a consistent Tier 1, 2 and 3 approach to Student Management/Wellbeing across the college.Regularly participate in Learning Walks with Leadership team members to monitor the consistent implementation of processes.Lead the strategic direction of improvement with a sub school.Provide support to the Leadership Team to ensure every student can reach their personal learning excellence.Oversee the college enrolment/transition program and processes.College Operation SupportAssist with the organisation and coordination of School Events.Oversee the College OHS, Facilities/Maintenance and Emergency Management Plan.Other duties as required by the Principal.Who May ApplyTeachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.EEO AND OHS CommitmentApplicants seeking part-time employment are encouraged to apply for any teaching service position and, if they are the successful candidate, request a reduced time fraction.
