Assistant principals have a primary responsibility for the management of significant areas or functions within the school to ensure the effective development, provision, and evaluation of the school's education program. In exercising this responsibility, assistant principals will have the authority to make all significant decisions relating to the program, budget, and staff concerning their area of designated responsibility within the framework of the school's strategic plan, policies, and budget.
Typically, assistant principals will be responsible for the effective use of the teaching staff and program budget of a defined area of the school's operation and for the oversight and leadership of the educational programs provided utilizing these resources.
ResponsibilitiesAssistant Principal - College Engagement, Education Inclusion and Pedagogy Lead the implementation of the Disability Inclusion Framework and ensure students with learning needs receive targeted support.Ensure that targeted support is provided to mandated students (PSD, OoHC, and ATSI students) and ensure that IEP, SSG, BSP, and Safety Plan requirements are met and actioned to a set standard across the college.Lead the development of diverse engagement activities across the college.Oversee the improvement in teacher practice in embedding the college lesson structure incorporating Tier 1 and 2 teaching strategies.Lead the College Marketing and Promotion Strategy.Chair the college Education Inclusion Executive.Actively engage and action relevant DET and Regional initiatives.College Engagement Processes Oversee the implementation of a vibrant House System that provides students with diverse opportunities and fosters connectedness to the college.Regularly participate in Learning Walks with Leadership team members to monitor the consistent implementation of processes.Ensure the college has embedded processes that allow every student to have equitable access to support/enrichment programs.Oversee the Home Group curriculum, including regular explicit teaching of the school's values, expectations, and social-emotional curriculum.Oversee the continual development in fostering student voice and agency across the college as well as developing greater opportunities for student participation.Lead the strategic direction of improvement within a sub-school.Provide support to the Leadership Team to ensure every student can reach their personal learning excellence.Oversee the college enrolment/transition program and processes.College Operation Support Other duties as required by the Principal.Who May ApplyTeachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.

This condition is satisfied where the LANTITE requirement is part of the Victorian Initial Teacher Education program completed by the person.
