Assistant Principal - Dubbo South Public School Dubbo South Public School is a large primary school in the Western area. The school vision is "Excellence through quality teaching and parental involvement in a caring environment". The school has excellent facilities, which include well maintained classrooms, hall, 3 undercover play areas, large play equipment and an Outdoor Learning Garden Area. The school has a very proactive P&C which supports the school in many ways and operates a fulltime healthy canteen. Dubbo South has an excellent reputation, based on a vibrant learning environment and an enthusiastic, committed and caring staff who provide a wide choice of academic, social, cultural and sporting activities for approximately 540 students, of these 7% are EALD and 37% are Aboriginal. Special features of our school include extension Literacy and Numeracy classes for Years 3 to 6, a fully integrated Stemshare learning space where lessons include robotics and coding; the use of interactive technology across all classes and a specialist Japanese and Music teacher. The school has a Special Education Unit with 4 classes to provide specialist support for students with more complex needs. We are proud of our Aboriginal Cultural programs where students Connect to country as well as support for our students from a non-English speaking background. Our students are involved in many outside competitions and participate at many events and competitive levels – sporting, creative and academic. We are a Positive Behaviour for Learning school where school expectations of Respect, Care, Responsibility and Cooperation are taught and practiced across our school community. We also have a Grow your Mind program across the school where students are equipped in learning skills in resilience, problem solving, anxiety awareness. We are committed to a learning culture where parents, students and teachers have opportunities to work together collaboratively in contributing to the school's educational journey.

Selection Criteria Evidence of highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to work in collaborative teams and build relationships while balancing the dual roles of exemplary classroom teacher and Assistant Principal.
Ability to lead and build the capacity of a diverse range of teachers within a culture of continuous improvement, in order to guide and inform the implementation of evidence-based practice and high-quality, differentiated teaching.
Demonstrated commitment to strengthen and sustain initiatives and processes that support wellbeing to meet students' social and emotional needs through the implementation of whole school practices.
Evidence of a highly visible, approachable and collaborative leader with a capacity to build and maintain inclusive and trusting relationships and partnerships with students, families, staff, external agencies and the wider community.
General Selection Criteria Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice.
Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs.
Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams.
Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents.
Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning.
Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy.
Conditions An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
