Assistant Manager, Senators' Services
The Assistant Manager coordinates the work and oversees the day-to-day responsibilities of the Purchasing team. The Assistant Manager, Senators' Services is responsible for ensuring that procedures and policies are followed for purchasing, storage, inventory management, gift sales, and vehicle management. The Assistant Manager may undertake more complex purchasing tasks, including research required to ensure that procurements are conducted in accordance with the Commonwealth Procurement Rules.
In carrying out these duties, the Assistant Manager must review information from various sources, including the Department of Finance's website; use standard templates such as the Commonwealth Procurement Suite documents; and be able to follow relevant policies and procedures. Purchasing minutes and other documents need to be well-written and error-free. This role requires the use and administration of an online inventory system through which regular stock reconciliations are performed.
As a member of a dynamic team, the Assistant Manager, Senators' Services will assist in mentoring, training, and completing performance reviews for junior staff and is expected to support colleagues by undertaking additional duties when required to deliver efficient and client-focused services.
All tasks require the Assistant Manager to be client-focused, have excellent communication skills, and be able to follow direction and policies.
Assistant Manager, Delivery Services
The Assistant Manager, Delivery Services coordinates and supervises the day-to-day activities of the Delivery Services subsection and is responsible for the provision of services to senators and the department. They work with employees in the Printing subsection to ensure items, such as Senate Committees' reports, Senate documents, newspapers, and mail and freight, are delivered in a professional and timely manner and in accordance with established policies, procedures, and entitlements.
The occupant of this position uses their supervisory and organisational skills to manage a small team and to delegate effectively to deliver the high-quality services required of the subsection.
The Assistant Manager, Delivery Services responds to client requests in a timely manner and in accordance with established policies and procedures. In carrying out these duties, they liaise with senators, their staff, departmental employees, and external service providers.
