Objective:As the Assistant Manager of our hotel, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Operations Manager and Company Director in overseeing the day-to-day operations of our establishment. This includes ensuring the smooth functioning of bar and restaurant services, assisting the café team in achieving excellence, and fostering a culture of outstanding customer service and teamwork. Your responsibilities will include operational leadership, financial management, staff training, and guest satisfaction, all while upholding the hotel's reputation as a premier destination.
Roles and Responsibilities: 1. Operational LeadershipCollaborate with the Operations Manager and Director to execute the hotel's vision and operational goals effectively.Provide hands-on support to bar, restaurant, and café teams during peak times to ensure exceptional service delivery.Act as the primary point of contact for operational issues in the absence of the Operations Manager, maintaining established standards and procedures.Foster effective communication between departments to ensure cohesive operations across the hotel.2. Bar and Restaurant ServiceSupervise bar and restaurant operations to maintain high standards in food and beverage service.Ensure bar staff are knowledgeable about drink offerings, including wines, cocktails, spirits, and tap beers.Monitor quality control of food and beverage presentation to consistently meet guest expectations.Oversee the execution of special promotions, events, and menu changes, coordinating with kitchen and bar teams.Work closely with the café team to maintain smooth operations and uphold service standards.Monitor café service and provide training or guidance as needed.Assist in developing customer service protocols for counter service and order management.3. Staff Management and TrainingOversee recruitment, onboarding, and performance reviews for all departments.Organise and conduct regular training sessions for bar, restaurant, and café staff, emphasising service quality, product knowledge, and operational efficiency.Mentor department managers and supervisors, fostering a positive and professional work environment.Assist with rosters to meet budget requirements while ensuring peak period coverage.4. Customer RelationsRespond to guest feedback, complaints, and suggestions with professionalism and urgency.Ensure that customer interactions align with the hotel's values of hospitality and excellence.Regularly engage with guests to gain insights into their experiences and identify areas for improvement.Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly sales performance, identifying trends and opportunities for growth.Assist in setting budgets for individual departments and ensuring adherence to financial targets.Coordinate inventory control and stocktakes across all departments, minimising waste and optimising costs.5. Compliance and SafetyEnsure compliance with liquor licensing laws, health and safety regulations, and other industry standards.Oversee cash handling and security procedures to protect the hotel's assets.Promote a culture of safety by addressing potential hazards and ensuring all staff follow safety protocols.6. Training and DevelopmentPlan and deliver ongoing training programs, including product knowledge for bar staff and service techniques for restaurant and café teams.Work with managers to identify skill gaps and provide targeted development opportunities.Organise cross-training sessions to improve staff versatility and adaptability.7. Performance Monitoring and ReportingAssess team and individual performance, providing feedback and implementing improvement plans where necessary.Document operational incidents, near-misses, and performance issues, reporting them to the Operations Manager and Director.Required Experience and Skills: Minimum of 2 years' experience as an Assistant Manager or a similar leadership role in hospitality.Strong leadership, interpersonal, and organisational skills.Comprehensive knowledge of bar, restaurant, and café operations, including licensing requirements.Proficiency in H&L systems.Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.A commitment to fostering a positive work culture and delivering exceptional guest experiences.This role is integral to the hotel's success, requiring a balance of operational oversight, team development, and a passion for hospitality.
