The RoleDue to recent expansion, a newly created role offers variety and the opportunity to join a team at the commencement of an extensive capital works project to renovate and reinvent a quality block within 20 minutes of Gunnedah. Working across two properties, the overall plan is to receive, background, and finish the Ultrablack seedstock progeny produced on another aggregation on the Mid-North Coast.
Extensive works have already been completed on the earlier purchased farm, resulting in an impressive showpiece backgrounding and fodder cropping enterprise incorporating 1,000 acres of oats and carrying 1,000 backgrounders. As a hands-on Assistant Manager reporting to a supportive and experienced management team based in Tamworth, you will be involved in all elements of the fodder cropping and cattle programs, utilising modern machinery and stock movements conducted by horseback assisted with working dogs.
Much of your time will be focused on the newly acquired property, bringing the developed strategic plan to life, including extensive fencing, relocation and replacement of infrastructure, including yards, as well as preparing the ground for fodder crops. You will utilise all of your previously acquired fencing, fabrication, maintenance and repair skills, as well as your strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills and ability to think outside the box. Ideally, you will also have some irrigation experience, particularly with improved pastures and fodder crops.
You will report directly to management and assist in coordinating various contractors and suppliers, requiring strong communication and interpersonal skills. Although you will not be required to complete financial management, some basic reporting will need to be completed, requiring applicants to have intermediate digital literacy.
