About the roleReporting to the Livestock Manager/Feedlot 2IC at Brindley Park, this newly created position will be an integral part of the feedlot leadership team. Brindley Park's current carrying capacity is 17,000 cattle units, with diverse cattle types from long fed Wagyu through to mid fed export cattle and a range of feeding programs. With development approval to double Brindley Park's capacity, future expansions will provide exciting growth opportunities for this role.You'll love a fast-paced environment and enjoy providing hands-on supervision to the livestock team of 14, including mentoring and coaching senior team members. You'll have broad responsibility for all aspects of day-to-day livestock handling and processing activities along with: Providing on the job training to staff, competency assessments and competency sign offs Monitoring work, health & safety standards, ensuring safe work practices are adhered to and that hazards and risks are proactively reported and managed Ensuring the highest standards of animal health and welfare practices and procedures are maintained at all times Managing feedlot horse plant including horse assessments/suitability, shoeing, dental, chiropractic, veterinary, feeding & nutrition programs Completing general maintenance activities including welding, water, cables and basic machinery servicing Ensuring accurate collection, recording and integrity of livestock data What's on offer:You'll also love the strong horse culture, with annual company camp draft and challenge event, horse breeding programs, horsemanship, breaking and shoeing schools along with participating in local camp drafts.
