Job Description: Residential Aged Care Worker
Pay rate: $33.01 / Afternoon rates and Night shift rates applicable.
Position Overview: A Residential Aged Care Worker provides compassionate support and assistance to elderly residents in care facilities.
This role involves promoting residents' dignity, independence, and overall well-being while ensuring a safe and comfortable living environment.
Ideally we are seeking candidates willing to do night shifts between 10:30 PM - 7:00 AM on a rotating roster.
Key Responsibilities: Personal Care:
Assist residents with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
Help with mobility and transfers, ensuring safety and comfort.
Health Monitoring:
Observe and report changes in residents' health or behavior to nursing staff.
Assist with medication administration under the supervision of a nurse.
Emotional Support:
Build trusting relationships with residents, providing companionship and emotional support.
Engage residents in conversation and activities to reduce loneliness and enhance their quality of life.
Room Duties:
Maintain cleanliness in residents' rooms and common areas.
Assist with laundry and ensure that personal belongings are kept safe and organized.
Meal Assistance:
Help prepare and serve meals, ensuring dietary requirements are met.
Assist residents during mealtime as needed, promoting independence.
Activity Facilitation:
Organize and participate in recreational activities and social events to encourage engagement and interaction among residents.
Tailor activities to meet the individual interests and abilities of residents.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of care provided, including daily notes and incident reports.
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and facility policies.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with nursing staff, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care.
Participate in care plan meetings and contribute to the development of individual care plans.
Skills and Qualifications: Education: Completion of a Certificate III in Aged Care or equivalent is preferred.
Experience: Previous experience in aged care or a related field is an advantage.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Empathy and patience in dealing with elderly residents.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
Certifications: Aged Care or Individual Support Grade III, First aid and CPR certification may be required.
Work Environment: The role may involve standing for long periods, lifting, and assisting residents with mobility, requiring physical stamina and resilience.
