AIMs work under the direction of a Registered Midwife in the delivery of patient care in the healthcare environment.
The Assistant in Midwifery will work within the maternity unit to provide safe and effective woman-centered care as directed by a registered midwife.
Key Responsibilities Assistance with activities of daily living for the woman and baby, including: Escorting low-risk patients; Assisting with any manual handling activities; Documentation (countersigned by a registered midwife); Provide information in support and reinforcement of the plan of care to the RM, patients, client and/or family. Assist midwifery staff with routine technical support functions, including: Sourcing equipment and supplies for routine procedures; Restocking and cleaning equipment; Maintaining the ward in a clean and tidy state, including bed making, assisting clients with personal laundry needs; and assisting with maintaining a safe ward/unit environment. Visual observations during intentional patient rounding (not including vital signs). What you bring Current Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People Registration. Current undergraduate Bachelor of Midwifery student who has completed a 2nd year clinical practice placement or is compliant with the relevant/current Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement; or A Post Graduate Midwifery student who is 4 months within the course.
