Job Description
The Assistant Financial Controller will play a critical role in assisting the Financial Controller in managing the day-to-day financial operations of the hotel. This position requires an individual with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments. The Assistant Financial Controller will support the preparation of financial reports, budgeting, forecasting, and accounting processes, ensuring the highest standards of financial integrity.
Please note this role is a 12 month fixed-term maternity leave cover position.
Responsibilities Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Finance and Purchasing department Use hotel systems to ensure compliance and policy integrity of accounting processes Perform regular financial reporting and analysis Support managers in the use and interpretation of hotel systems, procedures, financial results, budget and forecasts Oversee and support the Payroll Officer with fortnightly payroll processes Provide support and assistance to accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing and night audit. Qualifications Tertiary qualified with previous experience in a similar role in a large hotel Excellent verbal and written communication Strong technical skills and a high level of computer literacy Proficiency with SUN systems and Opera Proficiency with rostering, payroll and purchasing systems (Ready Workforce and Purchase Plus preferred) Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including advanced Excel skills Proficiency in accounting principles and internal controls Knowledge of the Hospitality Industry (General) Award 2020 A team player with attention to detail Flexibility of hours due to monthly deadlines.
