Who we are 
The People and Policy Branch are the front line of human resources (HR) for the department. We deliver timely and accurate responses to various client groups and support our people across the country with a strong focus on customer service and building trusting relationships with employees and business areas. We offer general and specialist HR advice and case management services for issues related to workplace relations, performance, probation, attendance, behaviour and workplace rehabilitation. The branch also includes a dedicated team that support our SES cohort and overseas deployments.

The Workplace Relations Section provides advice on the application of the department's enterprise agreement and suite of HR policies that supports the employment framework. The team are the escalation point for complex matters relating to these instruments. The team are also the key liaison point between business areas and unions that represent departmental employees. Business as usual activities also include managing the Individual Flexibility Arrangement and Voluntary Redundancy processes for the delegate, who sits within People and Policy Branch.

The Job
Key core duties for this role include:

• contributing to the implementation of the enterprise agreement
• contributing to the development and/or implementation of HR policies, procedures and programs to achieve corporate objectives whilst contributing to the effective operation of the team, branch and division
• providing evidence-based, timely and professional advice and policy direction to executives, managers and staff on workplace relations matters, HR policies and strategies
• engaging and working collaboratively with colleagues to achieve departmental people priorities and team goals, and building strong and effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
• leading, and contributing to, specific projects that support the administration of entitlements whilst working closely with key internal stakeholders
• managing significant consultative arrangements, including the department's consultative committee and engagements with union bodies.

Please note that this recruitment process will initially be used to fill one ongoing vacancy in the section and that the role may be performed from any of the locations listed above. The merit pool established through this selection process, which is valid for a period of eighteen months from the date the vacancy was advertised in the Public Service Gazette, may also be used to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies in the branch where the duties are of a similar nature.

What we are looking for Knowledge and experience
Previous experience in workplace relations and/or human resources would be beneficial.
