Assistant Director, Volunteer Learning and Development

We are seeking a dedicated individual to join us as Assistant Director of Learning and Development. In this role, you will be instrumental in advancing the capabilities of the members of the ACT Rural Fire Service (ACTRFS) and ACT State Emergency Service (ACTSES).
As Assistant Director, you will lead our Learning and Development team in designing and implementing a range of programs aimed at enhancing skills acquisition, maintenance, and professional growth. Your strategic insights will drive the identification of training needs of both the ACTRFS and ACTSES and the seamless execution of tailored solutions to meet those needs.
Collaboration will be key, as you work closely with our Membership Team and Emergency Services Agency Training to foster strong relationships that bolster the operational readiness of our emergency services. Your exceptional communication and negotiation skills will be pivotal in maintaining positive engagement across teams, membership, and the broader ACT Emergency Services Agency (ACTESA).
To excel in this role, you will have expertise in adult education design and development, along with a solid understanding of the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector. Your proactive approach, combined with impeccable organisational skills, will ensure timely responses to evolving business demands while demonstrating unwavering integrity and professionalism.

Eligibility/ Other Requirements:
1.Experience in design development and delivery of adult education and an understanding of the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector is highly desirable.
2.Qualifications in training design, development and assessment related to adult education and training are highly desirable.
3.An understanding of Emergency management is highly desirable.
4.This position requires an ACT Working with Vulnerable People registration.
5.Background and Security clearance checks will be conducted including National Police Records Check.
6.A minimum of a C class drivers' licence.
7.A fitness test may be required to perform operational activities. Note: A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
