Aboriginal applicants will be granted priority consideration for this vacancy.Primary Objective: Drive the development, management, delivery and evaluation of significant skilling programs and projects that meet the needs of Northern Territory industry, business, and individuals. Takes responsibility for the performance and outcomes of the service systems in place to manage the investment in Vocational Education and Training (VET).Context Statement: Workforce Operations administers significant budget allocated to deliver diverse skilling, apprenticeship, and traineeship programs and projects under contract to public and private training providers, industry, and other stakeholder groups.Key Duties and Responsibilities:Ensure the VET and apprenticeship and traineeship systems are effectively operating in the NT within the context of related legislation and agreements.Develop and maintain effective collaborative partnerships both external and internal across education, business, industry, and training organisations and other stakeholders at local and national levels.Provide effective leadership and resource management for the work unit, including budget and contractual agreements.Implement investment strategies for VET that deliver the skills needed by Northern Territory industry, business, and individuals.Engage in agency initiatives to support the achievement of departmental and government priorities.Selection Criteria:Essential:Highly developed strategic leadership and management skills, including personal drive and initiative and the ability to positively influence and develop staff.Demonstrated ability to develop and build relationships internally and externally to achieve targeted outcomes, communicating confidently and effectively utilising various mediums to suit the audience.Extensive knowledge and experience in the use of contractual, organisational, people, and other resource management principles and systems in order to implement and maintain good governance/best practice standards.High-level knowledge of Vocational Education and Training (VET), apprenticeships and traineeships, relevant legislative provisions and the issues impacting the sector at local and national levels.An appreciation of, and sensitivity to, cultural issues inherent in providing programs in the Northern Territory.Desirable:Experience in gathering, manipulating and analysing data in relation to skills development, apprenticeships and traineeships and VET programs in the Northern Territory.Further Information:When choosing to apply for this position, the applicant should consider the full requirements of the position in aligning their work experience and capabilities to this role.Please refer to the Capability Leadership Framework Level and visit our website at business.nt.gov.au.
