SRM operates as an independent review and inspections unit responsible for providing work health and safety (WHS) and risk management (strategic and operational) support, guidance and advice to the Department of Corrections, as well as supporting internal audit functions delivered through a shared-services arrangement with the Attorney General's Department.Key duties and responsibilitiesSupport the Director SRM to develop, implement, and continuously improve an effective risk management culture that ensures action through the creation and implementation of appropriate policies and procedures.Foster and maintain effective working relationships with staff across all levels of the Agency and with external stakeholders, to ensure the early identification and management of current and emerging risks.Provide specialist support, guidance and assistance to Executives, Managers and staff in the areas of strategic and operational risk management.Support the delivery of the Departments internal audit program in collaboration with the Internal Audit function from the Attorney General's Department.Support the Director SRM and the agency in responding to inter-jurisdictional, in-court, coronial, and anti-discrimination matters as required.Actively participate in and support the broader functions of the SRM business unit, including WHS (and other) functions and act as the Director SRM to ensure coverage during periods of leave.Selection criteriaEssentialExtensive knowledge and demonstrated experience in the application of risk management and integrity frameworks to identify and analyse risk, develop appropriate controls and evaluate control effectiveness within a large, geographically and operationally diverse organisation.Extensive experience in the delivery of internal audit programs and experience in the development and delivery of programs to periodically test an organisations internal control environment and check compliance levels across a range of areas.Well-developed oral and written communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work and negotiate with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders to influence change.Exceptional written and oral communication skills and extensive experience in the provision of high-level written documents including formal briefs, policies, procedures, instructions and investigation reports.Demonstrated experience in managing highly sensitive and confidential information.A current Northern Territory drivers' licence with the capacity to travel to regional and remote areas of the NT.DesirableAn understanding of the complex operations of a correctional services environment.A relevant tertiary qualification in Public Administration or Business Management.Further informationThe successful applicant will be required to undergo a criminal history check (fingerprint and name check) and an internal Departmental Integrity Check prior to confirmation of employment.
