Assistant Director, Performance & StrategyDispute Resolution & Support Services Branch | EL 1 | Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Hobart, Melbourne, SydneyThe Fair Work Commission (the Commission) requires Australian citizenship as a condition of engagement.To be eligible for employment with the Commission, the successful applicant must undergo and satisfy a National Police Check.About the PositionThe Assistant Director, Performance & Strategy sits within the Dispute Resolution & Support Services Branch (Branch) of the Fair Work Commission (the Commission) and reports to the Director, Dispute Resolution Support.The primary purpose of the role is promoting optimum performance against all KPIs across the Branch, particularly in the early case management of individual disputes.
This includes monitoring workload trends and lead indicators, developing and implementing strategies to project supply of and demand for conciliation resources, and analysing data to identify emerging issues that impact Branch performance.Informed by a strong understanding of the Commission's technology, systems, data capabilities and case management practices, the Assistant Director will work closely with other senior members of the Branch to set work priorities and deliver business improvements.
They will lead the development and implementation of a Branch-wide reporting framework and will be a critical stakeholder in projects to review and uplift the customer service model through new technologies and process change.The Assistant Director will provide leadership to a small team, translate strategy into operational goals and standards, make decisions based on professional judgement, and work collaboratively with others to achieve results.
They will foster and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, including with the broader Branch Leadership group, and play a key role in resolving complex problems.DutiesSupport operational Managers to achieve fair workloads and optimise performance by conducting analysis on team workflows and business priorities.Develop strategic solutions to solve complex problems that impact performance or services delivered to clients.Implement a Branch-wide operational reporting framework which meets the needs of key stakeholders, working with Technology teams to develop insights-based reporting tools and automate data analysis.Manage, deliver and monitor pilot projects and other initiatives intended to improve case management performance and business processes.Engage positively with risk and embed risk management in planning, decision making and team management.Provide leadership to team members, including building capability through coaching others, providing performance feedback, conflict resolution and encouraging career development.Build and maintain productive working relationships, collaborating with a diverse range of stakeholders to achieve results and overcome conflict.Uphold and promote an inclusive, healthy, and safe working environment, modelling and promoting ethical behaviour and practices consistent with the APS Code of Conduct and Values.Work collaboratively and flexibly to support the branch to deliver objectives, including by performing other duties when required.How to ApplyThe Position Description (PD) is attached at the bottom of this advertisement which will provide you with further information.Your application must consist of the following two requirements:A statement of claim of no more than 800 words, outlining your skills and/or experience relevant to the advertised role using the 'Our ideal candidate' section as your basis.A resume detailing your employment history relevant to this position and details of at least two recent referees.Submit your application via the Commission's online e-recruitment system by Sunday 19 January 2025 no later than 11:45 pm AEDT.If you have questions regarding this role, please contact Aaron Nowak on (03) 8656 4838 or send an email to the Recruitment Team at ****** staff have access to hybrid working arrangements where they can work a combination of in the office and from home.The Fair Work Commission has a broad range of functions relating to the workplace and seeks to discharge these functions in a way that best meets the needs of our community with a focus on access to justice.
