Assistant Director - Payment Structures and Seniors BranchAustralian Department of Social Services – Canberra ACT
Several positions are available offering the opportunity to join the leadership team in our friendly and high performing branch.
Assistant Directors deliver across a range of complex and sensitive policy matters under broad direction and develop and support other team members.
We are seeking engaged, innovative and enthusiastic team players with demonstrated experience in policy or related areas as well as stakeholder engagement and strong problem-solving abilities.
The key duties of the position include:Prepare advice for Ministers and the Executive on emerging policy issues and solutions, including a range of briefings, submissions, communications, correspondence and other documents.Lead the development of policy analysis or tools for analysis, including developing and costing new policy proposals.Implement Budget and other measures, including new legislation, and develop drafting instructions for new or renewing legislation and/or legislative instruments.In consultation with other agencies, provide advice on the administration and interpretation of existing policy and legislation, including interactions between social security and other areas of law and policy, such as superannuation, tax and aged care.Contribute to the evidence base through ongoing policy and data analysis.Supervise and develop fellow team members.Collaborate with colleagues across the branch, group and wider organisation.Maintain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including government and non-government agencies.Please review the job pack for the full position description.
