Assistant Director - Office of LGBTIQ+ Affairs
Full-Time and Part-Time PermanentDetails: The Social Policy and Office of LGBTIQA+ is responsible for progressing initiatives that support a safe and inclusive city for all Canberrans. The team provides advice to the Chief Minister, Cabinet and Head of Service on a wide range of social policy issues, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander policy, health, education, justice, community safety and social inclusion and equality.
The Branch also includes the Office of LGBTIQA+ Affairs, which delivers Capital of Equality – the Government's vision for Canberra to be the most welcoming and inclusive city for people of diverse sex, gender and sexuality.
The Office of LGBTIQA+ Affairs role provides an exciting opportunity to join a small, collegiate team that oversees whole of government work to make Canberra the most welcoming and inclusive city in Australia for LGBTIQA+ people. As part of this team, you will be assisting in the implementation and delivery of the second Capital of Equality Strategy and its Action Plans, including a number of projects to be led directly by the team. You will also be involved in the management of stakeholder relationships with key peer-led organisations in the ACT, assist with the administration of the Capital of Equality Grants Program and provision of secretariat to the ACT LGBTIQA+ Ministerial Advisory Council.
This position also assists with the work of the wider Social Policy Branch and can include the provision of policy advice on social policy issues including gender policy, multiculturalism, health, human rights and other matters as required. This includes preparation for Cabinet and inter-directorate executive meetings.

Eligibility/Other Requirements: Experience (including lived experience) and familiarity with issues affecting LGBTIQ+ Canberrans will be highly regarded.
Notes: This position is being offered at full time and/or part time. Part-time hours will be paid pro-rate of the full-time salary noted above. A merit pool will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months. This position operates under an activity-based working (ABW) model. Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk.
