Assistant Director, Management Accounting | Full-Time Permanent

Details of the offer

On 13 September 2024, the ACT Government assumed a caretaker role, with an election to be held 19 October 2024.
Information on this website will be published in accordance with the Guidance on Caretaker Conventions until after the election and conclusion of the caretaker period.
Details: The Assistant Director will be responsible for managing the project budgets for a portfolio of early stage property development projects.
The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in the renewal and expansion of Canberra's existing suburbs, as well as an eye for detail and well-developed problem-solving skills.
Working primarily with internal Development Managers, this position would suit somebody who is very people-focused and who is a good communicator both in a hybrid and in-person work environment.
Experience in management accounting and financial analysis in a government agency or private sector would be highly regarded, particularly those experienced in project reports and communicating financials to non-financial stakeholders.
The Management Accounting team is a critical financial service team within the Finance, Systems and Valuations Branch of the Suburban Land Agency (SLA).
The team is primarily responsible for the monitoring of property development project budgets for the life of a project, from pre-planning phase, construction, sales, and project close.
The team has five members and is responsible for project revenue and expenditure forecasting.
Development projects represent the lion's share of works undertaken by the SLA, and as a part of this team, you have a material impact in guiding the SLA in delivering great places for the ACT region.
We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where people with diverse thoughts, lived experiences, and perspectives can thrive and contribute their unique talents to the ACTPS and ACT community.
We encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability, people with culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, veterans, younger and older workers, and people with diverse genders, sexes, and sexualities to apply.
Eligibility/Other Requirements: Tertiary qualification in a related field and professional membership (or currently working towards) of CPA Australia/CAANZ or comparable bodies highly preferred.
Note: A Merit Pool may be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
How to Apply: Applicants should submit a supporting statement, addressing the Professional/Technical Skills and the Behavioural Capabilities of not more than two A4 pages outlining your skills and experience relevant to the role.
A copy of a current curriculum vitae and the contact details of at least two referees are to be provided (or available by request).
Applications should be submitted via the Apply Now button.
