The work area The Performance and Evaluation Group (PEG) directorates are part of the Strategic Policy and Evaluation Business Unit and work closely with key service delivery agencies to provide advice to Government on policy settings, resource allocation, and State Government Agencies' financial and service performance.
The Economic Diversification team is part of the Economic Business Unit and leads in collaboration with the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation, work to progress the Government's economic diversification agenda. The team provides advice and helps identify solutions to deliver on Government's policy settings, projects and resource allocation in relation to various priority sectors that focus on driving economic growth and diversification, including critical minerals, renewable hydrogen, international education, defence industries, tourism, medical products, and digital health.
The opportunity We have up to three Assistant Director positions available for immediate filling and we are establishing an appointment pool for vacancies that arise up to 12 months from the date of first appointment.
This is an exciting opportunity for experienced, innovative and results driven individuals to play a key role in delivering Treasury's strategic priorities. The Assistant Directors work closely with their portfolio-aligned teams, partner agencies and central agency counterparts to undertake analysis, identify solutions, provide advice, monitor resource allocation, and improve outcomes across public services.
We are seeking candidates who will be able to lead a team to work collaboratively with a wide range of senior stakeholders within Treasury and across the wider public sector, to deliver high level strategic and practical financial and policy advice to government. Our ideal candidates will have strong problem-solving skills; the ability to identify, analyse and evaluate budget risks and effective mitigation strategies; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; the ability to adapt to change; and ability to manage competing deadlines to deliver on high leverage areas.
