Expressions of Interest are sought to fill the position of Assistant Director, Legislation Reform.
Do you have strong communications skills? Do you have experience in policy development or evaluation? Then this job might just be for you! We are looking for a motivated and organised individual, that can take on this fast-paced role to coordinate the implementation of the
Education Amendment Bill 2024
and support the evaluation of legislative amendments.
Reporting to the Director, you will be responsible for working with line areas to develop policy updates that reflect the new legislation, develop communications materials for key stakeholders and briefing papers to the Executive and the Minister. You will also be responsible for developing the evaluation for the suite of amendments to the
Education Act 2004 , undertaken as part of the
Future of Education .
The ideal candidate has exceptional interpersonal skills, high level written and organisational skills, and an understanding of government processes.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Deliver policy and project work for government that includes research, analysis, consultation, development, implementation, and evaluation.
Provide accurate and robust advice, and briefing papers on policy development to senior executives and the Minister.
Be responsible for managing and leading a program of stakeholder engagement and consultation to inform the development of the policy updates.
Prepare communications materials for key stakeholders, including principals, unions, parent associations and the community.
Develop networks and relationships with stakeholders within government and the education sector, including by representing the Directorate and its interests at relevant meetings.
Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification that contribute to the branch and Directorate.
Eligibility/Other requirements:
Experience in the development or implementation of policies, or experience in evaluation of large-scale projects.
Highly developed organisational skills and ability to work under pressure, with minimal supervision and meet deadlines while effectively understanding, anticipating and managing competing priorities.
Excellent written communication skills with demonstrated experience in preparing briefing materials to the Senior Executive, the Minister, or communications materials to explain complex matters to the key stakeholders, external agencies and schools.
Highly developed interpersonal and representational skills and demonstrated experience in building quality relationships with stakeholders.
Understanding of ACT Public Service Values, demonstrated self-awareness, professionalism and a proven commitment to ongoing cultural awareness. Demonstrated awareness of and ongoing integration of workplace respect, equity and diversity work practices and workplace health and safety principles and practices.
