Expression of Interest: Fulltime ongoing opportunity to undertake the role of Assistant Director - KJU Operations, Aboriginal Justice Group.The Aboriginal Justice Group have an ongoing opportunity for a staff member to provide operational management, resource and financial management, quality management practices and corporate governance within KJU Operations.
This role will be located at 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne with opportunities for flexible working.
This is a prioritised role for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, who will be given priority consideration as per the special measures provision of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010. About the Role The Assistant Director - Operations, in collaboration with the Director, provides leadership and operational management of the Koori Justice Unit, which delivers the Aboriginal Justice Agreement (AJA) including administration of a significant grants program to address Aboriginal overrepresentation in Victoria's justice system.
The Assistant Director - Operations will play a critical role in delivering on the department's priorities including embedding Aboriginal self-determination and working in genuine partnership with Victorian Aboriginal communities to achieve a fair and accessible justice system for Aboriginal people.
Some of your duties will include:
Leading, motivating and managing teams, providing advice, direction and guidance to plan and deliver on the business unit's key strategic priorities.Providing high-level, expert and authoritative advice to the senior government executives and external stakeholders on KJU operations in a complex environment.Leading development of effective financial and grants management processes and practices to ensure required standards are being met.To learn more about this role before applying, please read the attached position description.
About you To be successful in this role, you will have:
Excellent knowledge of Aboriginal culture and society and understanding of historical and contemporary issues relating to Aboriginal Victorians.A proven track record in senior management and leadership in matters of operational management, resource and financial management, quality management practices and corporate governance.Demonstrated success in building, managing and leading high performing multidisciplinary teams to deliver on signature initiatives and reforms, through effective program and project management.Highly developed knowledge of and experience of government processes.Qualifications A tertiary qualification in public administration or business is highly desirable.How to Apply Please click the Apply button on this advertisement.
