Applicants suitable for the role but not offered the position for the current vacancy may be placed in a merit list or pool to fill similar vacancies for up to 18 months in ACT; NSW; NT; QLD; SA; TAS; VIC; WA.About us:The Vape and Tobacco Operations and Coordination (VTOC) is a new section established to provide the strategic, operational and tactical oversight of cross jurisdictional health, whole of government and intra-agency coordination of compliance activities that combat illicit tobacco and vapes. It will work alongside the ABF Illicit Tobacco Taskforce (ITTF) which is focused specifically on the intersection of illicit tobacco with serious organised crime.The VTOC engages with key internal, external and offshore stakeholders to ensure available ABF capacity and capability is effective at combating illicit tobacco and vapes. The VTOC will also coordinate, monitor and report on ABF border enforcement controls that counter the availability of illicit vapes and vaping products.Our ideal candidate:The Inspector roles play a significant leadership role in the VTOC. Each Inspector is responsible for leading their respective team to deliver against their remit whilst building a supportive positive team culture within the VTOC.As the Inspector, you will build networks within the ABF and external stakeholders and will represent the VTOC capabilities to other stakeholders involved in the disruption of illicit tobacco and vapes. You will work closely with ITTF, Tobacco and Vape Intelligence, Trade Policy Compliance Branch, Regional Commands, and external law-enforcement and health agencies.The team engages with stakeholders across the ABF and government - you will build relationships to champion new ways of working that support ABF commitments to delivering on government outcomes.
