The Enterprise Transformation Group, made up of the Chief Information Officer Division and the Enterprise Strategy and Transformation Division, has been established to drive the AEC's transformation agenda, and to deliver the Election Systems Modernisation Program (Indigo Program) on behalf of the Agency.
The Enterprise Strategy and Transformation Division includes the Indigo Program Management Office Branch, the Indigo Product and Design Branch, and the Enterprise Transformation Branch, all of which have a shared objective of delivering effective Program Governance for the Program, and for the AEC more broadly.
The Vendor Management Office (VMO) sits within the Indigo Program Management Office Branch and is responsible for the procurement and ongoing contract management of Information Technology (IT) resources for the AEC. The VMO works with vendors and business to ensure that contractual arrangements are delivered in line with procurement policy.
The Opportunity The Assistant Director will work closely with the Director to lead and manage the successful execution of procurements and the ongoing management of Indigo and IT contracts, ensuring compliance with the Commonwealth Procurement Rules (CPRs) and implement the Indigo Probity Framework. 
In this role you will lead a small team of procurement and contract management professionals and support the development of contract management capability within the VMO. 
You will also contribute to program management and governance practices, including preparing reports and other documentation, along with workload management of Indigo procurement and contract management activities.
To excel you'll have:
Ability to remain positive and respond to pressure in a calm manner, committing energy and drive while overseeing a team delivering significant and complex projects. The ability to think strategically by providing significant contributions to innovation and business improvement strategies.  Experience in leading teams, developing and managing work plans and implementing monitoring processes that ensure work is on track and delivers against strategic objectives for the team and the Indigo Program. Collaborative skills with the ability to build and manage relationships with business areas and external stakeholders, to identify opportunities, achieve outcomes and facilitate cooperation. Proven ability to proactively establish priorities and deliver results while managing competing priorities for you and your team and manage risk to ensure the effective delivery of procurement activities for the success of the Indigo Program. Experience in leading teams who undertake procurement and contract management activities. Relevant qualifications and / or industry certification. For example, Diploma of Government and/or Certificate IV in Government (Procurement and Contracting) or equivalent or knowledge of, or ability to, quickly gain knowledge of Commonwealth Procurement Rules. Demonstrated ability to stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in Commonwealth procurement and contract management. AEC employees must be Australian citizens. Any person who is, and seen to be active in political affairs, and intends to publicly carry on this activity, may compromise the strict neutrality of the AEC and cannot be considered. Applicants are required to consent to, undergo, obtain and maintain a character clearance. The AEC is responsible for conducting federal elections and referendums and maintaining the Commonwealth electoral roll.
