Primary Objective: As a key member of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Executive, the role will operate at strategic and operational levels and will play a critical role in the overall strategy, leadership, and performance of the DPP. The position will provide high-level strategic, legal, policy, and business advice and decision-making across a range of matters; assist the Director in corporate strategic leadership and the efficient day-to-day running of the office, including management of human and financial resources across the Northern Territory. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Lead and prepare the office's response to complex submissions, cabinet submissions, and law reform inquiries. Develop and maintain high-level relationships with colleagues across government, the non-government sector, private practice law firms, Legal Aid, and Aboriginal legal organizations. Manage the DPP's human and financial resources, including budget management and staff development. Lead the development and implementation of strategic projects to improve the business and operational performance of the DPP. Provide high-quality legal policy advice on criminal justice issues to AGD, NTLAC, Police, and other stakeholders. Represent the Director of Public Prosecutions at high-level meetings. Oversee the compiling of statistics, selection reports, and drafting and editing of the Annual Report. Selection Criteria: Essential: Extensive experience in researching, analyzing, and preparing complex correspondence in a legal environment. Demonstrated high level of contemporary leadership and management skills. Well-developed cross-cultural awareness skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. High-level strategic, conceptual, analytical, and creative skills. Eligibility for admission as a legal practitioner in the Northern Territory. High-level knowledge of sound business management principles. A thorough understanding of Government Financial Systems. Ability to lead change and influence decisions. Demonstrated knowledge of strategic planning and project management. Hold (or have the capacity to obtain) a current Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card). Desirable: Understanding of criminal justice issues impacting the Northern Territory. Further Information: The successful applicant will be required to undergo a criminal history check. The successful applicant will need to be available for intrastate travel for court circuits and may be required to work flexible hours. #J-18808-Ljbffr
