A unique opportunity exists for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person to join the Mental Health Policy and Strategy team (MHPS) in the ACT Health Directorate.The MHPS team is undertaking significant work to strengthen our service system capacity to deliver more culturally responsive mental health services by and for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We are looking for a motivated and experienced person who wants to help improve health and wellbeing outcomes with and for young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, their families, and community.You will provide advice, support culturally appropriate and respectful engagement, and build partnerships with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in the ACT and other government and non-government stakeholders.The successful applicant will be part of a small team planning and delivering policy, program development, and project-based activities.We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where people with diverse thoughts, lived experience, and perspectives can thrive and contribute their unique talents to the ACTPS and ACT community. Knowledge of ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community and ability to build and maintain meaningful relationships with community is essential.People with lived experience of mental ill health are strongly encouraged to apply.Whilst not a requirement, qualifications and/or experience in project management, public policy and/or health-related fields is highly desirable.Notes: This is a temporary position available from 06 January 2025 until 02 January 2026 with the possibility of extension.
