The Department of Treasury and Finance is seeking an Assistant Director in the GST Policy unit of the Intergovernment and Financial Policy Branch.In this role you will lead a small team to direct strategic policy advice to the Tasmanian Government on GST-related matters.You will work in a diverse, inclusive and supportive workplace with a strong values-based, team-oriented and flexible, high-performance culture.About You You will be a motivated and capable individual with sound judgement combined with excellent analytical and communication skills.
You will use your strong skills, knowledge and experience to strategically direct research, deliver projects and provide advice to Government regarding GST policy and revenue.
In doing so you will use your excellent stakeholder engagement skills to work through complex issues and negotiate outcomes with senior members of other agencies and Government businesses.
Your success requires the ability to lead the development of analysis and policy advice on complex issues; define and develop recommendations; clearly articulate difficult technical issues to stakeholders; and demonstrate leadership and initiative in a team environment.

The Intergovernment and Financial Policy Branch is part of Treasury's Economic and Financial Policy Division. Its key responsibility is to provide advice to the Government on state taxation and intergovernmental financial relations issues, including preparing and monitoring estimates of revenue.
