The work area The role sits within the GST branch of the Revenue and Intergovernmental Relations Directorate, which is part of the Economic business unit. The GST branch frequently consults with and develops submissions to the Commonwealth Grants Commission to ensure Western Australia maintains its fair share of GST, as well as providing advice to Government on the State's GST grants.
The opportunity Are you passionate about ensuring the WA Government is well informed to further the State's interests on GST distribution matters? We are looking for a motivated leader to join the Revenue and Intergovernmental Relations team and make a difference for Western Australia. The Assistant Director (GST) is responsible for leading and managing a team that is primarily responsible for deep analysis and high-quality advice and submissions on the distribution of GST grants between States. You will provide strategic direction on various programs including:
Preparation of GST grant forecasts, incorporating the latest information from the Commonwealth Grants Commission and forecasts of relevant economic activity;Facilitating an up-to-date, well-founded and coherent position on GST distribution matters by Western Australia;Managing the State's participation in reviews of the GST distribution by the Commonwealth Grants Commission or other entities.There is one Permanent Full-Time position available. This role is suitable for someone with the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders, whilst leading an experienced team in the development and evaluations of economic policies and evidence-based advice.
