Assistant Director for Sturt Street Children's Centre Sturt Street Children's Centre is a vibrant and inclusive community dedicated to providing high-quality early childhood education and care. Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate and experienced Assistant Director to join our dynamic team. The successful applicant will work closely with the Director to ensure the smooth operation of the centre, providing educational leadership and support to staff, and maintaining the highest standards of care and education for our children.
This is a unique leadership opportunity to work in a Department for Education Children's Centre – we are an integrated site with child care and a Department for Education Preschool. We require an Assistant Director who has a comprehensive background in early childhood education and management and can support the Director and leadership team in the daily operations of the centre, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and implementing best practices in early childhood education and care.
The role involves coordinating with the team to develop and deliver high-quality educational programs as an educational leader for child care, maintaining effective communication with parents and caregivers, and overseeing the health, safety, and well-being of all children. The applicant will need to be adept at managing a myriad of administrative tasks, including enrolment processes, staff rostering, additional supports for children, while also providing leadership and professional development opportunities for the team.
The position requires an Assistant Director who is self-motivated, has good time management skills, who is inclusive and has a collaborative approach with the team.
To acknowledge the experience and responsibilities, it will be remunerated at Director level 6. This position may suit a Director who wants to step down from the level of responsibility, whilst still maintaining the opportunity to work closely with children, families and the team.
Key Responsibilities: Assist the Director in the day-to-day management of the centre Provide leadership and support to educators, staff and students Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards Support the development and implementation of educational programs Foster a positive and inclusive environment for children, families and staff Assist in the recruitment, training and development of staff Engage with families and the community to build strong collaborative relationships Manage administrative tasks, including enrolments, rostering, inclusion support and policy review and development Support the development of high-quality educational programs as an educational leader for child care Support the Director with NQS compliance Ensure the service philosophy, policies, procedures and standards are upheld by all members of the service Qualifications and Experience: Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education Current first aid, CPR, Anaphylaxis and RRHAN training Current Working with Children Check (WWCC) Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team Comprehensive knowledge of the National Quality Standards and the Early Years Learning Framework High level of professional integrity and ability to make sound decisions Commitment to continuous improvement and professional development Why Join Us?
