You will join a team of highly motivated and collaborative professionals that work in the Enterprise Transformation Group (ETG).
The ETG is made up of two Divisions, the Chief Information Officer Division (CIOD) and the Enterprise Strategy and Transformation Division (ESTD), established to drive the AEC's transformation agenda and deliver the Election Systems Modernisation Program (Indigo Program) on behalf of the agency.
The Program Support Section sits within ESTD and is responsible for critical enabling functions for the Indigo Program and the broader ETG, including:
Talent management - recruitment, labour hire procurement, onboarding, contract management and offboarding of ETG and Indigo Program resources.Financial management - end of month accounting, financial analysis and reporting, budget development and management, contract cost evaluation and negotiations, and cost modelling.Program support - information architecture development and maintenance, labour hire invoice processing and reporting, property planning and management, Indigo vendor onboarding and offboarding, and travel booking.The Section is committed to establishing and maintaining a high performing and positive workplace culture.
You will operate in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, working closely with Directors, Assistant Commissioners, First Assistant Commissioners and all areas across the ETG.
The key duties of the position include: The Assistant Director, Finance works alongside the Finance Lead and the Program Support Director to lead and manage the Finance Team and provide accurate and comprehensive financial management services for the Indigo Program and the broader ETG.
In this role, you will contribute to the operational functions and resource allocation of the Finance Team, ensuring all budget and financial management reporting activities are delivered to a high professional standard.
This includes preparing and quality assuring high-quality written correspondence, briefings, reports, procedural documentation, and communication material for a variety of different audiences on behalf of the Director and the Team.
You will analyse and synthesise information from a range of internal and external sources to provide timely strategic advice to the Director and the ETG Senior Executive, whilst also maintaining internal and external relationships, collaborating with key stakeholders to achieve outcomes and facilitate cooperation, representing the Team in various forums.
You will contribute to the development of strategies, frameworks, policies, and procedures to support efficient management of ETG's financial responsibilities and make decisions using professional judgement in a fast-paced, complex, and changing environment.
To excel you'll have: Demonstrated experience in effectively managing high volumes of work and competing priorities, with the ability to manage an operational team as well as manage upwards.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively synthesise information and communicate to people from different backgrounds and levels of seniority.Demonstrated experience in preparing complex and/or sensitive correspondence, briefings, papers, reports, and other written artefacts, with strong attention to detail.Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strategic relationships and communicate decisions using professional judgement.High degree of initiative, integrity, and discretion when dealing with confidential and sensitive matters.Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and a strong commitment to working harmoniously within a team to achieve positive results and support the AEC's strategic direction.Desirable: Demonstrated experience in delivering management accounting functions and financial management advice to senior executives to support decision making.Demonstrated experience in effectively managing and analysing large complex data sets in support of complex budget and financial management.A good understanding of financial accounting practices and asset management accounting.Experience in a range of enterprise financial accounting systems, and advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook).Experience in developing robust costings for budget bids in the Federal Government context.Tertiary education and/or qualifications suitable to the role and preference to have or be working towards attaining a CPA and/or CA full membership.
