Position OverviewThe Australian Defence Force (ADF) offers more than 150 different jobs, some of which are considered particularly complex and/or high risk from a psychological standpoint, including roles in Aviation, Intelligence, Cyber Warfare, Submarine Warfare, and Special Forces. Applicants for these complex roles undergo targeted psychological assessments as part of their selection process.This position is responsible for managing the ongoing development and maintenance of data capture and management tools and systems/applications that support and enable validation of ADF selection processes and standards, and the conduct of ADF mental health surveillance activities and research. The incumbent will manage a small team of APS, ADF and Defence contractors. The position will also be responsible for managing the procurement of the Directorate's labour hire and ICT procurement requirements. The incumbent will liaise with and provide expert advice to the Director and other Team Leaders regarding solutions to their data management issues.About our TeamThe Data Management Systems team develops and maintains a range of ICT systems and applications designed to facilitate the collection and management of health-related data arising from programs such as Occupational Suitability Assessments (OSA) and Mental Health Surveillance. This data enables the validation and evaluation of policies, procedures and standards that underpin the conduct of the OSA psychology assessment, and the conduct of post-operational mental health surveillance.These functions are integral to the ADF's ability to optimise its human capability through effective recruitment and management, by (a) ensuring those we recruit are a good 'fit' with both the ADF and their preferred occupation, and (b) contributing to the ADF's ability to manage the mental health and wellbeing of ADF members appropriately.We offer flexible, family-friendly working arrangements with opportunities for part-time and home-based work.
