We have responsibility for a wide range of human services functions in the ACT, including multicultural affairs, community services, older people, women, public and community housing, children, youth and family support services and policy, Child and Family Centres, homelessness, community engagement, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs, and community disaster recovery.
We are looking for someone to fill this brand-new position– Assistant Director (SOGC) Content Accessibility (Easy English).
The position will have a key focus on ensuring conscious and deliberate improvement in how we are developing and delivering the most accessible content that can reach and meet the diverse needs of our community.
This will have a specific focus on Easy English translation to ensure people with disability across the spectrum, with low literacy or English as a second language can engage meaningfully with government information and policy.
The position will work for CSD but will also be a key resource across government to create opportunities for the development of shared knowledge and understanding of accessible communication, specifically Easy English and will help to build peer networks, processes, capacity and key artefacts – including templates and iconography - to increase opportunity in this space.
Eligibility/Other Requirements: The successful candidate will have lots of energy and ideas, and will be adept at juggling multiple priorities, be able to think strategically and have great people skills - not to mention exceptional written and verbal accessible communication skills.
Notes: A merit pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
