Assistant Director, Compliance Education and Learning (Various Opportunities)The Department of Health and Aged Care is looking to fill multiple vacancies at the Executive Level 1 within our Regulatory Compliance Branch.
Assistant Director, Compliance Education: responsible for leading and managing a team to prepare and maintain compliance education products (fact sheets, guidance, industry training).Assistant Director, Governance and Learning: responsible for leading the development, design, and evaluation of branch training, standard operating procedures and policies.The key duties of the position include:Responsibilities include:
As a member of the Regulatory Compliance Branch, you will work collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Duties are to be performed under broad direction of your supervisor and in accordance with the APS Code of Conduct, upholding the APS Values and upholding the office values of independence, impartiality, integrity, accessibility, and professionalism. Responsibilities and duties will be performed in line with APS Work Level standards for the classification and function of each position. The core duties for these roles are to:
Lead and manage section members to support compliance and enforcement activities under the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989 (the Act), including agreeing on clear performance standards, delegating tasks (including allocating cases), providing timely and constructive feedback, identifying learning opportunities, and offering full support when required.Foster a collaborative team environment, building cooperation and effectively leading and motivating staff.Provide expert guidance and advice to the branch and internal stakeholders, addressing a wide range of issues of varying complexity, sensitivity and tasks to ensure informed decision-making.Provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities for team members, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, encouraging feedback and input from staff at all levels.Support staff wellbeing and contribute towards maintaining a positive culture.Actively support and demonstrate leadership across the Branch, broader Division and Group.To be eligible for employment with the Department of Health and Aged Care, applicants must be an Australian citizen at the time an offer of employment is made.
An applicant's suitability for employment with Health and Aged Care will also be assessed through a variety of pre-employment check processes, such as:
Satisfactory completion of a criminal history check, and where relevant, a Working with Children and Vulnerable People Check,Completion of a medical declaration and pre-employment medical (where required),Providing evidence of qualifications (where required), andObtaining and maintaining a security clearance at the required level.For this role applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance, or hold a current security clearance at an appropriate level.

Employees perform their duties at one of the Department of Health and Aged Care (DoHAC) offices, in the locations specified in this advertisement. Remote working is possible and is negotiated with your manager on commencement. Flexibility can be negotiated with your manager to balance your personal and professional needs with the needs of your role and business area.
This recruitment process is being used to fill both ongoing and non-ongoing positions. Non-ongoing positions will be offered on a specified term basis for an initial period of up to 12 months with the possibility of being extended (this will not exceed a total of 24 months in the same or similar role).
