The Role The acquisition of conventionally-armed, nuclear-powered submarines is an historic and transformative endeavour for Australia.
The whole-of-nation effort to safely and securely deliver the cutting edge nuclear-powered submarine program will transform Australia's economic and national security landscape for decades to come.
The Assistant Director Capability Investment Planning and Cost Integration Directorate will manage the a team that facilitates capability planning and program-level cost analysis for the NPS Program through the establishment and implementation of program planning discipline and cost analysis of the NPS Program, ensuring alignment of cost and planning information that supports senior executive decision-making in the ASA.
The role will also ensure that the Program is integrated with Defence capability investment mechanisms.
The additional payment is a Building Capability Payment (BCP) which enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the rate of salary otherwise payable under the Enterprise Agreement (EA) to some or all of the jobs within a critical occupation(s) or discipline within a workplace.
Applicants engaged into a BCP position must consider the following.
BCPs provide remuneration in addition to the Defence Enterprise Agreement (EA). This arrangement is subject to meeting eligibility criteria and is subject to annual review.
Should your performance fall beyond requirements or the eligibility criteria not be met, your eligibility for the BCP may be reviewed and ceased.
It may also be ceased should you change positions or the requirement for the BCP is no longer necessary, as determined by Defence.
Should the BCP be ceased you will be advised and your BCP additional payment will cease.

The Program Office in the Australian Submarine Agency (ASA) plays an important role in this undertaking by providing oversight and guidance to the delivery of the AUKUS Nuclear Powered Submarine (NPS) Program. The Program Office works closely with Defence, the whole-of-Government and the AUKUS trilateral partnership across all aspects of the NPS Program to deliver Australia's most significant Defence capability in history.
The Program Office is the central program coordination function within the ASA and is comprised of three directorates, focussed on Trilateral Integration, National Program Management and Program Planning & Cost Integration.
