It does this through funding high quality research, supporting the translation of research into evidence-based practice and policy, providing guidance on responsible research practices and ethical issues and administration of legislation governing research using human embryos. In addition, NHMRC has responsibilities in relation to implementation of the Medical Research Future Fund.

Who we are Seeking
NHMRC is seeking a skilled and experienced officer for an Executive Level 1 role in the Business Intelligence and Data Access Section.

The Assistant Director is responsible for leading the leading the business analysis, process analysis and user centred design capabilities at NHMRC to identify opportunities for improvement and provide strategic recommendations to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness. The successful candidate will collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, analyse data and specify solutions that align with organisational goals and objectives. This role requires strong analytical skills, a customer focus, excellent communication abilities and a deep understanding of both business and technology domains.

Job Specific Duties 
The key roles and responsibilities of the Assistant Director will include:
• Developing and producing business analysis artifacts relating to the capabilities above which illustrate the business need and can be used by technical teams and vendors to develop innovative solutions to requirements.
• Developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders acting as a point of contact for the business to support prioritisation activities.
• Contributing to organisational change management initiatives to drive organisational transformation and improve performance.
• Collaborating with internal teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains.
• Analysing data to identify trends, patterns, and insights to inform business process improvement decisions and efficiencies.
• Staying up to date with the latest trends and developments in user centred design, business analysis, business intelligence and organisational change management.
• Conduct thorough analysis of existing business processes and systems to identify areas for improvement.
• Utilise analytical techniques and tools to interpret data and derive actionable insights.
• Develop business cases and feasibility studies to support proposed initiatives and projects.
• Facilitate workshops and meetings to elicit requirements, gather feedback, and foster collaboration among stakeholders.
• Work closely with project teams to translate business requirements into functional specifications and technical solutions.
• Utilise Agile methodologies to facilitate iterative development cycles and ensure timely delivery of solutions.
• Leverage Azure DevOps or similar tools to manage project tasks, backlog, and deployments efficiently.
• Assist in the testing and validation of new systems or enhancements to ensure they meet business needs and quality standards.
• Developing and implementing best practice guides, templates, and training for staff to learn user centred design, business analysis and process analysis.

• Communication and stakeholder management skills: Ability to interpret and capture complex information in a clear and concise manner from stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
• Change management: Ability to contribute to and manage change initiatives, including developing and implementing change management strategies.
• Leadership: Ability to build consensus and drive results.
• Technical skills: Proficiency in business intelligence tools and technologies, as well as an understanding of user centred design processes, process analysis, and business analysis. Formal training in process, business or user centred design or change management will be highly regarded.
• Translation: Proficiency in translating business requirements into technical specifications and vice versa.
• Personal: A high level of integrity, self-awareness, professionalism, and accountability.
