The Y Queensland stand together with all people regardless of age, gender, ethnicity or belief. We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Coordinator to join our team YMCA Shailer Park Outside School Hours Care (OSHC). This is a permanent, part-time position.
Your working hours per week will be 34.5 hours during school term and up to 38 hours during vacation care time.
About the roleIn this position, you will assist the Service Coordinator with the day-to-day running of the service and management of a team of Educators. You will receive support from a dedicated management team, consisting of the Coordinator, Senior Coordinator Area Coordinator, Regional Manager and the OSHC Manager.
As the Assistant Coordinator you will assist with:The development of quality programsManage the day to day running of the programsSupport the Coordinator with staff managementEnsure compliance with policyUndertake administrative requirementsWork collaboratively with families and the school communityAs the Assistant Coordinator you will have:Completed (or actively studying) relevant qualifications in Childcare or Teaching (Minimum of Diploma in Children Services)Demonstrated experience in assisting with programming and a passion for providing quality childcareDemonstrated experience in maintaining effective administration and correct documentation in an OSHC serviceExcellent verbal and written communication skillsFirst Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtainCertificate of Suitability to work with Children and Young People (Blue Card) or willingness to obtainNQF knowledge would be advantageousBenefits and rewardsThe successful applicant will be rewarded with a wide range of benefits and rewards including:

The service is licensed for 70 children per day and operates from 6:30 am to 8:30 am in the morning and 3pm to 6pm in the afternoon during school terms. We also operate during school holidays for Vacation Care (6:30am to 6pm).
Our service offers a wide range of fun, stimulating and diverse programs that reflect real world experiences and home settings. This helps encourage a sense of community amongst our children, facilitates leadership skill development and allows children to practice social skills in a supported and caring environment.
Programs and activities are aligned with the YMCA Mission – to provide opportunities for children to grow in body, mind and spirit – underpinned by our values of Honesty, Caring, Respect and Responsibility. We blend this philosophy with the National Quality Framework 'My Time Our Place' and Wooloowin State School's educational principles to develop appropriate, engaging and most of all FUN activities for your child whilst in our care.
Our Educators escort Prep children to and from their classrooms, as well as all children to and from extra-curricular activities. We provide nutritious breakfasts and afternoon teas (morning tea also included during Vacation Care) that align with the Nutrition Australia guidelines.
