As an Assistant Chief Engineer, you'll ensure the seamless operation of our luxury hotel, keeping our facilities running smoothly while leading your team to new heights of performance.
If you're looking for an exciting leadership role with opportunities for growth, we want to hear from you!The HotelShangri-La The Marina, Cairns is a luxury five-star hotel located beside Marlin Marina and Trinity Inlet in the heart of Cairns.With 255 guest rooms, 18 function venues and extensive food and beverage facilities, the hotel is part of a leading international company with more than 100 hotels and resorts worldwide.Duties and ResponsibilitiesCoordinates preventive maintenance schedules, engineering maintenance requests, inspections of plant rooms and service outlets, and ensures all work orders are performed and correctly recorded.Leads and motivates the shift team, sets and maintains service standards, provides feedback, coaches employees, and manages attendance and scheduling.Monitors the working condition of all mechanical and electrical plants during shifts, updating service reports and log books as necessary.Conducts staff training and development, implements a multi-skills program, and ensures compliance with employee rules and regulations.Assists with the Energy Conservation Programme, participates in environmental initiatives, and leads emergency response efforts, including fire fighting and FEAT team leadership when needed.What makes you perfect for this role:Extensive experience in engineering or facilities management, ideally within a hospitality setting.A passion for leading and developing a high-performing team, with the ability to motivate and support your colleagues.Ability to handle physical tasks, including inspections and maintenance work, with precision and care.A proactive approach to problem-solving and a keen eye for detail.Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed to keep our hotel running smoothly.What's in it for you:The opportunity to work at an iconic Cairns luxury hotelCareer progression and development opportunitiesDiscounted city car parkingDry cleaning allowanceDuty meals provided in fully staffed and maintained staff canteenAccommodation discounts with the groupShangri-La Academy for professional development and learningShangri-La The Marina, Cairns isn't just a place to work; it's a place to lead, grow, and make a difference.
