The Role Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, the Assistant Accountant supports the Finance team in managing day-to-day accounting tasks and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data across the organisation's mining operations. This role is essential in maintaining timely financial records, assisting in month-end processes, and supporting compliance requirements.
The Assistant Accountant will work closely with the Senior Accountant to deliver accurate reports and contribute to the overall financial efficiency of the company.
Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Actively pursuing or interest in CPA/CA qualification is preferred.Minimum of 3 years relevant experience, ideally within the Mining or Construction Industry.A high level of computer literacy with a solid understanding of purchasing/finance software package; SAP S4 Hana (Fiori apps) will be highly advantageous.Ability to work in a multi-tasking environment, meet deadlines and prioritise workload.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to create and foster successful working relationships.Exceptional attention to detail and ability to efficiently process data.Strong work ethic, flexible, adaptable, and reliable.A demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.Tasks & Responsibilities Adhering to, and promoting SQM corporate values: Excellence, Safety, Integrity and Sustainability.Bank Reconciliations: Perform weekly and monthly bank reconciliations to ensure all transactions are recorded correctly.Month-end assistance: Support month-end closing activities, including journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.Providing invoices are approved in the system, preparation of payment runs.Preparation of Balance Sheet reconciliations, ready for review.Preparation of credit card reconciliations, making sure expenses are substantiated with relevant tax invoices.Processing of journals: prepare accruals, depreciation charges, and other ad hoc journals required to fulfill the end of month cycle.Compliance and documentation: Ensure documentation is organised, complete, and easily accessible for audit purposes.Support tax compliance activities, including GST and other local tax obligations.Ad hoc projects work and tasks.This is an outstanding opportunity to contribute to a growing lithium company whilst working within a focused and committed team.
