Asset Data Scientist Exciting opportunity to get involved in different projects. Hybrid working model and flexible arrangement. 12-month Fixed-Term contract (Maternity Leave cover) V/Line's purpose is to connect Victorians through safe, reliable, and accessible transport. About the role The Asset Data Scientist position is primarily responsible for analysing data sources, developing models and providing advice on asset trends. This role will increase model dimensions, solve complex problems, and monitor the condition and performance of assets to support data-driven decision making.

The Asset Data Scientist will work with various stakeholders to present opportunities for growth and development of capability, and to improve data visualisation and communication processes.

Key accountabilities include: Leading data analytics projects (including design and ideation), selecting appropriate data sets and methodologies, and applying sophisticated data analytics techniques. Identifying, recommending, and implementing new analytical tools and approaches for analytics projects. Supporting investigations to identify and eliminate unfavourable trends in Asset Reliability & Performance. Interpreting, documenting, and performing data cleansing and remediation activities related to Asset Management Systems. Working with the Asset Systems & Data team to automate and program repetitive tasks and support the management of the Asset Performance Options Library. The ideal candidate will possess: A growth mindset. Commitment to fostering a culture of psychological safety within the team and the broader business. Familiarity with database architecture, AWS and/or Machine learning. Prior experience with a range of analytics, ETL, modelling and visualisation packages. Relevant experience within Asset Management or similar industry Demonstrated experience leading data analytics projects, including project design, methodology selection. Experience in identifying, recommending, and implementing new analytical tools and approaches for analytics projects. Knowledge of Asset Management strategy and initiatives and the ability to use data to generate insights to support these initiatives. Demonstrated alignment to V/Line's values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership and human rights. Desirable: Relevant tertiary engineering, science, information systems or equivalent Experience supporting investigations to identify and eliminate unfavourable trends in Asset Reliability & Performance. Experience developing information to guide lifecycle decision-making, including capital improvements and maintenance regimes.
