Your primary focus will be to manage asset accounting duties that meet both Council's internal requirements and its external reporting obligations. A key aspect of this role is to support the Financial Operations Lead in maintaining the accuracy of Council's capital value register and driving continuous improvement in systems and processes. You will supervise and mentor Asset Accounting Officers, ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of fixed assets and remediation assets within the finance function. To be successful in this role, you'll need to have a degree in accounting, commerce, or a related field, with extensive experience in asset accounting. A thorough understanding of relevant accounting standards is essential, along with intermediate to advanced skills in computer and spreadsheet applications. Your ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, will be crucial as you engage with various stakeholders. You'll be an analytical thinker with a proven track record in critically assessing and resolving complex issues, and you'll have the leadership skills to develop and lead a high-performing team. We are looking for someone who is committed to ongoing learning and development, with the drive to continuously improve systems and processes within their area of expertise.
