Victims Support Services was established to meet the needs of Victims of Crime within our community. This position will be responsible for researching applications made under the Victims of Crime Assistance Act 1976 to ensure relevant information is provided to enable a decision to be made on the application. This position is also responsible for the updating and further development of the website for the Victims Support Service together with project work on a range of topics required by the Service.

DutiesUndertake the day-to-day operations of the applications for Victims of Crime Assistance including response to correspondence and liaison with applicants and/or solicitors.Assess applications made under the Victims of Crime Assistance Act and provide relevant information and advice as required.Finalise applications for hearing or decisions on paper, including preparing associated payment requests.Undertake all duties associated with the Victims Support Services website ensuring the information is current and easily understood.Undertake research, either individually or in conjunction with other staff and put forward recommendations for consideration.Contribute to the development of the organisation's policy, procedures and practices.Liaise with Government and non-Government organisations with a view to maximising their input to the delivery of services to victims of crime.Perform any other assigned duties for the Victims Assistance Unit at the classification level that are within the employee's competence and training.Pre-employment ChecksThe Head of State Service has determined that the person nominated for this vacancy is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, promotion or transfer.
