An Asphalt Labourer/Operator plays a crucial role in road construction and maintenance. Here's a breakdown of what this role typically involves:
Responsibilities:
Site Preparation: Clearing the construction area of debris and setting up necessary equipment.
Material Handling: Transporting and handling materials such as asphalt, rakes, shovels, and other tools.
Asphalt Application: Assisting in the pouring, spreading, and smoothing of asphalt on roads, pathways, and car parks.
Equipment Operation: Operating machinery like pavers, rollers, and compactors to ensure the asphalt is applied and compacted correctly.
Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance on equipment and ensuring tools are in good working condition.
What you'll need to succeed
Candidates to be successful require the following:
The following construction tickets or ability to obtain - White Card, Asbestos Awareness and Silica Awareness
Previous experience working on a roads crew or civil site assisting the implementation of roads and infrastructure
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work in various weather conditions
Strong ability to work and collaborate in a team effectively.
Beneficial if you have worked on skid steers, rollers and other machines prior
