We are seeking an Asphalt and Spray Seals Engineer to operate on a permanent full-time basis to play a pivotal role in shaping the safety, accessibility and sustainability of our community's infrastructure.
Roads and pathways are the arteries of any suburb – enabling not just transport, but also the flow of commerce, emergency services and everyday living. The work of the Asphalt and Spray Seals Engineer ensures that the City of Swan's assets are safe, durable and designed with future growth in mind. The role is responsible for planning, managing and supervising a range of road projects and maintenance programs that form part of the annual capital works programme ensuring quality and timeliness in the completion of all projects in a safe and cost-effective manner.
Due to the expectations of the role, we require someone with strong relationship management skills with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with a variety of contractors and stakeholders.
Key Accountabilities include, but are not limited to: Independently plan, project manage and supervise the annual capital works resurfacing programme, in the Operations Division including (Engineering and Parks, Construction and Maintenance, and Project Management) ensuring quality and timeliness in the completion of all projects Project manage and supervise the contractor road annual maintenance programme to a good quality and timeliness in the completion of all works Generate Capital work estimates for resurfacing and road rehabilitation projects for the Asset Management Department, influencing and providing program guidance on the Long Term Financial Plan Monitor and Control project costs to approved budgets ensuring goals and targets are met Assist with the generation of all relevant tenders and contracts, providing specialist knowledge and experience in asphalt, sealing, profiling and stabilisation fields Prepare, manage and superintend asphalt, seal, profiling and stabilisation contracts throughout the contract lifecycle Assist the Business Unit Manager and organisation with various tasks as directed For more information about the role please refer to the position description.
The successful candidate will have the following: Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering or Pavement Engineering Specialised knowledge of asphalt, seal, profiling and road stabilising activities Knowledge of Road and Civil Engineering maintenance and construction techniques Demonstrated experience managing and delivering projects specialised in complex resurfacing nature including profiling, stabilising, sealing and asphalting Ability to lead investigations into pavements and wearing courses which have failed or show defects, identifying the root causes and recommend rectification treatment options Sound knowledge of WHS legislation and practices Well developed communication skills with the ability to manage and maintain positive relationships A satisfactory National Police Certificate C Class Drivers Licence Safety Awareness Training Certificate (White Card) Qualifications in Asphalt and Seal Training, Project Management and/or Traffic Management will be highly regarded About working with us: The salary for this position will be from $107,720.74 - $121,862.05 per annum, depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
