JOB DETAILS Move your career into new Territory
Joining the Allied Health team at Katherine Hospital and the Big Rivers Region as a Radiographer/Sonographer offers a fulfilling opportunity to make a real impact on patients' lives, particularly within Indigenous communities.
This role involves providing medical imaging services to the Katherine Hospital and across the Big Rivers Region, contributing to the continuous improvement of the Medical Imaging Services.
You'll also supervise, mentor, and train students and junior staff, and play a crucial role in recognising and demonstrating complex or unusual pathology.

This role also allows for professional growth and participation in innovative regional health initiatives.
In a complex region like BRR, innovation is key, which means ideas and expertise are valued and implemented at all levels.
AHS-BRR is an open-door service, walking with and empowering both its consumers and employees.

The Top End of the Northern Territory offers diverse and exciting medicine, with presentations such as tropical medicine conditions not seen 'down south'.
The town of Katherine has a population of approximately 11,000 and services the Big Rivers Region, which has a population of around 22,000 and covers a geographical area larger than Victoria.
Most people in the region outside of Katherine reside either in small remote communities or on cattle stations.
There is a large proportion of Indigenous patients, with Katherine town being at the junction of the Jawoyn, Wardaman, and Dagoman groups.
Katherine also has a busy tourist season and sees many travellers in the hospital throughout the Dry Season.

There is opportunity to be able to make a huge difference to healthcare outcomes for patients in rural and remote areas.
Our patients have a high burden of chronic disease with complex comorbidities, and this makes for challenging and rewarding medicine.
