ASIC is expanding its in-house litigation team and is looking for junior and mid-level litigation lawyers who are committed to contributing to a high profile, challenging and rewarding litigation practice.

The team:
The Civil Litigation team leads ASIC's in-house litigation practice.
Our Litigation Counsel act as the solicitor on the record and are responsible for the conduct of ASIC's civil litigation in the High Court of Australia, the Federal Court of Australia and the State Supreme Courts where the matter is run in-house.
The Civil Litigation team also manages ASIC's relationship with external law firms and provides strategic guidance in those matters where ASIC has engaged an external law firm.
The Civil Litigation team is part of ASIC's Legal Services Team and works closely with Enforcement & Compliance teams and the Commission.
The roles:
Under the supervision of Litigation Counsel, you will deliver high quality representation and advice in matters conducted by ASIC's in-house practice by:
Acting for ASIC in and being responsible for the day-to-day conduct of ASIC's regulatory civil litigation including
Reviewing evidence.
Drafting pleadings, affidavits and other court documents.
Briefing and working with counsel.
Attending court.
Providing strategic advice and guidance to the Commission in relation to ASIC's regulatory civil litigation.
Providing advice to Enforcement teams related to the conduct of investigations.
Multiple positions at different levels available (please see the attached position descriptions for details).
Sydney and Melbourne based candidates preferred but positions available in other locations for the right candidates.

ASIC is Australia's corporate, markets, financial services and consumer credit regulator.
ASIC is focused on enforcement and conducts a diverse and challenging civil litigation practice.
ASIC conducts this practice using a combination of its in-house litigation team and panel law firms.

About you:
We are looking for team members with hands-on litigation experience, strong organisational skills and the capacity to apply a regulatory theory approach to litigation.
We are looking for team members who can communicate with influence with all stakeholders, including members of ASIC's Enforcement teams and the Commission.
You are admitted to practice in the High Court, Federal Court and relevant State Supreme Court.
You have a drive to make a difference by conducting a range of important regulatory litigation, which is central to ASIC's role.
