About the Opportunity Reporting to the Trade Planning Team Lead, the Trade Planner – Fabrication, is accountable to provide technical review of defect information, engineering specifications and recommendations, technical drawings and work instructions in order for maintenance tasks and capability upgrades to be clearly and concisely converted into work scope and work packs. This will enable trade personnel to safely and efficiently execute maintenance tasks on board submarines and in workshops, ensuring the maintenance schedule for the Collins Class Submarines is fully supported and approved. All work is required to be conducted in accordance with ASC and departmental processes and routines, ensuring safety, quality, efficiency, accuracy and repeatability across all ASC Corporate and RAN planning systems and databases.
Responsibilities To be considered for this permanent full-time opportunity it is imperative that you display expertise across the following competencies:
The ability to review and determine correct maintenance standards and drawings to develop consistent work packs, to ensure work can be carried out by the relevant employees and associates in a safe and reliable manner. Effective communication skills both written and verbally. Demonstrated experience in liaising with Project Planners and Maintenance Planners to prioritise and revise work schedules. The ability to assist Project Planners and Senior Trade Planners in the development of work scope, change and emergent work proposals. Ability to interpret complex engineering specifications, documentation, recommendations and work instructions. Trade qualification in a Fabrication/Piping engineering discipline or relevant tertiary qualifications. Proven Fabrication/Piping maintenance experience and technical ability in a shipbuilding, submarine or heavy engineering environment. Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite predominantly with Excel. About you This role requires an enthusiastic and organised individual who has a Fabrication trade or engineering background with a good understanding of maintenance planning principles and comprehensive project schedules. You will have the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, work autonomously and use initiative to produce quality results. You will also need to demonstrate the ability to influence, encourage and work within a team and other supporting departments to produce successful and accurate outcomes.
Desirable competencies and experiences Previous Planning experience at a trade or project level. RAN SIMS and ASC Control knowledge and experience. Eligibility This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals. Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
