With a staff of over 200, our laboratories are located in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane and with Client Service Offices located in Adelaide, Darwin, Newcastle and Wollongong.Job DescriptionFull time, permanent position based in Girraween, NSW.Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm.Reporting to the Team Leader, the Asbestos Analyst will be responsible for the identification of asbestos fibres according to the ISO 17025 accredited laboratory test methods. The role will be responsible for the preparation and analysis of airborne fibre monitoring samples in accordance with the laboratory test method.Key accountabilities will include but not limited to:Performing routine asbestos analytical, physical tests and sample preparation as required.Controlling own work flows.Ensuring samples are tested in a timely manner, completed, and integrity of results maintained.Ensuring correct methods are used and adhered to.Calibrating and maintaining equipment, ensuring maintenance logs are kept up to date.Ensuring correct quality control procedures are used and adhered to, including Asbestos Internal Quality Control sample analysis.Identifying and reporting quality issues and implementing corrective and preventative actions.Performing all of the analysis assigned by the section supervisor.Monitoring, encouraging and supporting laboratory technicians as required.QualificationsTo be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following:A minimum education level of a Certificate 4 in Laboratory Techniques or similar is typically required, however a person with previous experience in a similar laboratory role or related field may also be considered.Following an initial period of training, a new analyst must show compliance with the internal quality control requirements outlined in SOP05 prior to enrolment in a Proficiency Testing program.Training is ongoing until these initial criteria are met.
