Moreton Bay College was established in 1901 as a school for girls from P-12 and now supports an enrolment in excess of 1100 students. In 2014, the College completed a state-of-the-art Science Centre, featuring eight laboratories, a growth room and four experimental investigation rooms.
THE POSITION The Arts Assistant - Performing Arts will play a crucial role in assisting the Head of Department, the Director of Dance/Drama and the staff of Dance, Drama and Curriculum Music, to support the dynamic and thriving curricular and co-curricular programs at Moreton Bay College. The program includes Dance, Drama and Music Curriculum alongside co-curricular Drama and Dance Troupes, Drama Productions, a Drama Extension Program, Musicals, Eisteddfods, Competitions and Dance Showcases.
The successful applicant will work both independently and collaboratively with colleagues, as well as the broader school community. They will have an interest in the arts, seeing young people flourish and working with a team of passionate educators.
This 22.8 hour per week position involves three aspects:
administration for the curriculum and co-curriculum areas of Dance, Drama and Music supporting the Dance and Drama programs with costuming, props and resource management this role could be worked three days a week (3 x 7.6 hours) or four days a week (4 x 5.7 hours) The Arts Assistant is responsible in the first instance to the Head of Department – The Arts and ultimately to the Principal. All staff are employed by the CEO and Executive Principal.
All staff need to be supportive of the values, Christian ethos and Ethical Statement of this Uniting Church Day school for girls from Kindy to Year 12.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES It is expected that the Arts Assistant - Performing Arts will assist The Arts Department:
with administration for the curriculum and co-curriculum areas of Dance, Drama, Music and Visual Art with supporting the Dance and Drama programs with costuming, props and resource management with a wide range of administrative and practical support with administration tasks such as updating information in the Student Administration Systems (TASS), producing rolls, assisting teaching staff with risk assessments and excursions/incursions planning with planning and organisation of events, including ticketing, liaising with other relevant departments such as marketing, accounts and venue management with maintenance, sorting and storage of costumes and facilitating parent helpers to assist with this with communicating with the parent PASG (Performing Arts Support Group) with supporting students and staff as they rehearse and plan for performances with the running of events at some out of hours school functions, these times would be negotiable and advised well in advance (TOIL or overtime negotiated) other tasks as directed The Arts Assistant - Performing Arts will also actively contribute to a safety citizenship culture upholding health and safety policies, procedures, hazard reporting and safe work practices.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Certificate III or IV in Administration or similar would be desirable; Certificate III or IV in Education or Creative Industries or similar would be desirable; The ability to sew is highly desirable.
