About the divisionThe State Records Office is the Western Australian public records authority with responsibility for managing, preserving and providing access to the state's records of information. Established under the State Records Act 2000, it is part of Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries and supports the State Records Commission in its statutory role under the Act.
By supporting the public sector in WA, the office seeks to achieve a secure and discoverable record of government that is valued by the community and used to create a legacy for current and future generations of Western Australians.
About the roleJoin our team as a key contributor to ensuring State Archives are well managed, secure and accessible to the community.
The State Records Office seeks to establish a pool of Archive professionals to control, preserve and make the State Archives Collection accessible. We are looking to appoint to permanent, fixed term, full time and part time positions, as they arise over the next 12 months. The State Archives Collection documents the administrative history of the State and is the largest archival collection in WA, dating back to the 1820s.
In this role, you will provide expert guidance on digital repository management, data transfer, migration, and preservation strategies. You'll also play a vital role in documenting records in the Series Registration System. Additionally, you'll assist clients in accessing Government records and support various team initiatives within the directorate.
You'll be working with a positive, collegiate and supportive team of Archivists with a strong commitment to ensuring current and future generations have access to the State's administrative history, and the interactions of government with the people of WA.
