About the role
The Corporate Services Branch oversees the efficient, effective and ethical management of the National Archives' resources. This is done in accordance with the Commonwealth's financial, procurement, employment, security and property legislative and policy frameworks. The Branch supports the workforce, facilities and culture it requires to deliver its strategic priorities and remain sustainable. It comprises four sections: People and Culture; Property and Security; Corporate Capability and Finance and Procurement.
The Corporate Services, Storage Consolidation and Analysis section has been established to work on business improvements and new business initiatives arising from the Tune Review, 10-year strategy, and other emerging priorities. The Storage Consolidation and Analysis section is responsible to consolidate collection storage into three centralised hubs, including collection management, archival services, and relevant state and territory stakeholder engagement.
Under general direction the main duties of the role include:
Supervision of staff, including task allocation and organisation, contribution to the completion of required work by the group, on-the-job training, monitoring quality of work and provision of advice and guidance on procedural matters and complex issues.
Use a variety of digital systems for the management of the archival collection, keep accurate statistics, assist with regular reporting to the team and undertake information management by creating and maintaining business records.
Support and coordinate project work and assist with the development, implementation and review of policies and local procedures including some basic research.
Liaise and negotiate with internal and external clients on operational and administrative matters and work cooperatively to achieve outcomes.
Work collaboratively to consult and share information with colleagues, participate in section meetings, provide advice, actively engage in problem solving and knowledge transfer and seek input from others to achieve business outcomes.
Apply the principles of APS Values, Code of Conduct, workplace diversity, work health and safety and participative management within a work and team environment.
Apply the National Archives' Vision, Mission and Commitments as expressed in Strategy 2030 and Our Values.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the role you must be an Australian citizen. If you are selected, you will be required to successfully undergo a pre-employment check and be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at a Baseline clearance level.
You must also be able to meet the inherent physical requirements of this role which includes repetitive, sedentary, screen-based work and/or the ability to pack, sort, lift and relocate records in accordance with established work health and safety practices and archival principles. You may be asked to complete a questionnaire, as part of the recruitment process, to substantiate your fitness for duty. This questionnaire will be provided to those short-listed for interview and provides an insight into the activities of the Section.
